“I worked with Sumaty on a one-day creative workshop for individuals with lived experiences of homelessness and substance use. Over a few months we worked continuously on learning from each other and creating a workshop which amplified the voices of participants and promoted self-care in a joyful manner. Sumaty was well prepared for the day and showed incredible interest and patience. She created a supportive environment where participants felt comfortable sharing their stories and creating art. Sumaty established a connection with each participant and continuously nourished it throughout the day. Feedback indicated that participants felt that Sumaty was a well prepared, responsive to questions and created a safe space.”

“I commissioned Sumaty to design a zine, which was the product of a two day community archiving session called Memory and Archive which took place in August 2022, in collaboration with the Latin American Women's Rights Service and its Community Activist Project WARMI, as part of their wider Activism & Wellbeing Programme. These sessions explored Latinx memories and herstories; asking ourselves and each other why it is important to archive our diasporic stories.

Sumaty attended both workshop days in order to connect with the participants, hear their stories and view their archive. Sumaty is a very intuitive artist who finds inspiration through her environment which is what brings so much vibrancy and care into her work. Apart from being a very talented artist, Sumaty has a very caring and collaborative spirit, which made working with her a very pleasurable experience. We are so pleased with the Zine and would definitely commission her again.”
